Magazines and advertisements, and even movies, tell us that modern interior trends are as much space and as little furniture as possible. Separate modules hanging on the walls, low clearly cut glass tables, along with a sofa in one of the angles, a vase of decorative flowers or a basket full of fruits in the other, and a large empty floor. This is considered taste. But how many of you have ever dreamed of throwing around several accents that will give the house the conservative opulence and cozy look of a royal place? It is possible and achievable. Several hints, several touches, several changes, and several ideas you may look at:
- Red. Red is the colour of lust and richness. If you go for red walls, beware of the space you have and the shade you choose. A small room with dark red walls will look even smaller. Instead, try with decorative red cushions, red upholstery or a red carpet. But if you insist on a red wall, a combination with taupe will soften the effect.
- Gold. It doesn’t seem very practical, and safe, to buy golden pottery, but a healthy hint of gold in the frame of the mirror will throw fresh glitter on the place. A few gold tassels in the upholstery will leave an effective accent and a touch of elegance.
- Drapes. A significant landmark of regal homes are long thick heavy drapes, slightly crumpled, exquisitely caressing the floor. Red, dark blue or emerald green, whatever the colour, as long as it fits your taste, pulled or loose, the drapes give an elegant touch to the windows.
- Portraits. Ancestors and stories about them are still a source of pride for royal families. You can hang photos or pictures of family relatives on the walls, or order them on visible places. To add some more effect, put the pictures in well-favoured impressive frames.
- Upholstery. An ordinary armchair dressed in beautifully embroidered or colourfully dyed cover with pleated ruffle edges will become unrecognizable. And old-fashion looking, in a unique way.
