Going to a gym is a great idea, but it is not appropriate for those who are short of time. You have to spend time to travel getting there and also returning home. It can be quite uncomfortable, if you can’t get a shower at the gym. Actually, if you have a basement it’s a perfect place to work out. You don’t need to travel and you can get a shower at your place. So why don’t you think about converting your basement into a small gym. Follow these simple tips:
- Space. It’s the first factor you need to consider. Your basement should be big enough to place your equipment. Also think about where you can warm up! Can you extend your hands upwards?
- Floor. Floor is also important. Basements usually are full of stuff we don’t use. Some of this stuff can be rolling around. This makes the place dangerous for you to train there. So before starting any exercises, make sure that there is nothing to stumble upon.
- Ventilation. Most of us don’t have ventilation in their basements. If you are about to start working out there, better consider getting a ventilation system. You can train without it, but basements are usually full of dust, and I bet you don’t want to breathe it. Another advantage of the ventilation system is that it will keep away the smell of sweat. If you have a decorative carpet there, you can call the carpet cleaners. This way you’ll be sure that there is no dust and filth in the place.
- Lighting. Most basements are poorly lighted. This won’t interfere with your workout, but it is a good idea of getting powerful lights. The reason for this is that poor lighting tires your eyes. If you are going to spend more time in the place, get new lights. It’s good for your health! After all, this is why most people start to work out at first place - to improve their health condition. Don’t forget that lights can be quite dusty too. You can get some professional cleaning services, to make sure that the place is ready for use.
