Zen bedroom - why not?

Searching for a balance and peace in our dynamic world have become a challenge - deadlines, stress, noisy environment and many other obstacles stand before our inner harmony. When we get home many times we face limited space, chaos, cacophony of styles and furniture. Even in our peaceful harbor – the bedroom – occasionally we accommodate storage space, office and sleeping area. This prevents our abilities to rest and to recharge after exhausting day. Use these Zen advices to arrange your bedroom and to get better and more refreshing sleep:
  • Use natural materials – wood, stone and bamboo should be the basic building elements of the decoration and the furniture. For more warmth use soft colors of the wood and laminate flooring. Spread a couple of cotton or woolen rugs and this can be the base of retreating sanctuary.
  • For the walls choose neutral soft colours that don’t tense the eye and the spirit – pale green, beige, even very light grey – take an example from the Spa centers.
  • Don’t use big, heavily ornamented furniture. Simplicity is the key word in Zen style.
  • When choosing the accessories get items that represent the natural elements –water, earth, fire, wood and metal – candlesticks, fountains, a couple of different size pebbles or minerals. The same is with the artworks – they should be nature orientated – flowers, stones, flowing water – in the stores you can find great variety of pictures.
  • Cleanliness – this is also very important for the space you sleep in – expert house cleaners recommend using of abstergents that are eco friendly - they are easier to use and also it is less possible to contain potentially allergenic ingredients.
  • Electrical appliances – avoid laptops, PC’s and other devices that cause electromagnetic pollution. Even if you don’t mind sleeping while the TV is working, this spoils the quality of your sleep and you don’t get the proper power that it should have given you. Turn them off or just don’t place them in your bedroom.
  • Surrounding sounds – the rule is: the quieter, the better – bedroom should be representation of our most intimate and balanced self – do the most to restrict the noises that try to penetrate in it. If you can afford soundproof walls, you can use bookshelves – they absorb the sound waves inside out and vice versa.
  • Catch the light – as main part of the design of a room windows and lightning are very important. Use shades or rice paper to limit the natural light that can be a great disturbance. Even professionals engaged in end of lease cleaning advise us in favor of persiennes and curtains – not only you will avoid waking up by blazing sun but you will prevent lightening of the furniture under the impact of the direct sun light.
